Why does UltraStor not answer their phones?

        UltraStor is out of business.  The primenet account is due
        to be shutdown any day - please refer to the kuci.org sites
        for the most up-to-date info.

NEC 4x CDROM is not recognized by the UltraStor controller.
        Set the synchronous negotiation from "Host Adapter" to "Target".
        Load CD-ROM drivers as usual (may need to purchase UltraOPT or other
        package)

Computer locks up going into Windows after logo is displayed (with "USPI"
driver loaded).
        Insert the following statement in the 386enh section in the system.ini
        file:  VirtualHDIRQ=off

Why should the USPIx4.sys driver be loaded?
        The "USPI" driver provides the ASPI layer necessary for support of SCSI
        device drivers.  It also provides performance benefits and uses only 6k
        of memory.  It can be loaded high if necessary.

What do I need to get a CDROM working with my controller?
        The following four steps must be taken to get a CDROM working:
                1) The lastdrive statement must be set.
                2) USPI14.sys (or USPI24.sys if you have a 24f) must be loaded
                in the config.sys.
                3) An ASPI compliant CDROM driver must be loaded in the config.sys.
                4) MSCDEX must be loaded in the autoexec.bat

        Examples are given below:
                1) device=c:\uspi14.sys
                2) device=c:\ultracd.sys /d:mscd0001
                3) lastdrive=g
                4) mscdex.exe /d:mscd0001

Why can't the USPIx4.sys driver be used as a CDROM driver?
        The USPI system file creates the "ASPI layer" which is needed for ASPI
        compliant device drivers.  The ASPI layer eliminates the need for
        device drivers to be written on a per controller basis.  Any ASPI
        compliant utilities therefore can work with UltraStor's ASPI drivers
        included with each controller.  UltraOpt has now been made available
        on the ftp site.  This package contains the ultracd.sys driver useable
        by most cd-rom players.

Disk/File Access for Windows.
        Currently there is no 32bit disk access available for our Bus Mastering
        SCSI controllers, however 32bit file access will function.  Windows 95
        will feature protected mode support for our 14F/24F/34F/124F series SCSI
        and RAID controllers which provides better performance than provided
        by 32bit disk access.

CoResiding issues with the 12F.
        The 12F ESDI controller is capable of co-existing with other
        hard drive controllers.  Set the 12F's to IRQ 15, secondary hard disk port
        address, and secondary BIOS address (CC00,D400,or DC00).  Set the CMOS
        to match the primary controller's attached hard drives.  Note: Some
        early revisions of the firmware and BIOS may not coreside properly.
        Contact UltraStor to obtain the latest revisions of these chips.  If
        you have access to an EEPROM burner then the latest code may be
        obtained from our BBS or Internet FTP site.

OS/2 Warp Use.
        The 14F/24F/34F series cards are compatible with OS/2 WARP by using
        our driver.  This driver is available on our FTP site and BBS under the
        name OS223x4.zip (the x will be 1, 2, or 3 depending on the controller
        you have).  Make sure driver additions to the config.sys file are made
        at the top.

Slow Floppy use under OS/2 Warp with 24F EISA SCSI controller.
        Set the JP7 floppy enable/disable jumper to disable (jumper removed)
        and enable the floppy through the EISA configuration utility.


More than 16MB under Novell with the 14F/14FB ISA SCSI controller.
        The following 4 steps need to be done:
        1) Include "Set Reserved Buffers Below 16 Meg = xx.  xx should be a
        number between 8 and 200.  We recommend 20 per attached hard drive.
        2) Add "Set Auto Register Memory Above 16 Megabytes=OFF" statement.
        3) Load U14_31X.DSK with the /b switch (ie. : LOAD U14_31X /b)
        4) Register the added memory as normal
           (ie. : Register Memory 1000000 1000000)
        Steps 1-3 are done in the startup.ncf file and step 4 is in the
        autoexec.ncf file.

Larger than 1.2GB drive not showing all the capacity.
        Set the drive mapping mode for 64/63.  Existing drives on the controller
        will need to be repartitioned and reformatted (a low level format is not
        required however).

Attempting to add a drive with capacity exceeding 2GB in the DOS/Windows
environment.
        The 14F/24F/34F SCSI controllers support drives up to 2GB's only.  The
        34FB and 34C support drive sizes up to 4GB and the 14FB and the 34FA
        support up to 8GB drives in DOS and Windows.  All drive capacities are
        supported on the 14F/24F/34F series in Windows NT, Novell Netware,
        SCO and other UNIX's, and OS/2 HPFS.
