For more detail see document20 Registration.rtf . 09 INSTALLATION : These instructions show you how to install the UltraStor SCSI adapter devic e driver on an Intel-based computer running NEXTSTEP EE Release 3.2. The driver is distributed as file named UltraStorFamily_1.1.tar.Z . 1.09If you received the20 UltraStorFamily_1.1.tar.Z file via NeXTmail EE or downloaded via FTP or another electronic source, place a copy of the fi le in a location where you can access it when you log in as20 root . 2.09Log in as20 root . 09Only the superuser,20 root , can install the device drivers. If you're not sure how to log in a s20 root , see your system administrator. 3.09Double-click the20 UltraStorFamily_1.1.tar.Z file and uncompress and unarchive it. 4.09Double-click the20 UltraStorFamily.config.20 It automatically launch20 Configure.app and copy the driver into20 /NextLibary/Devices20 directory. 5.09Add UltraStor driver as SCSI device and configure IRQ and port address according to setting of the card. The default setting is the same a s Adaptec setting and should be OK for most cases.20 6.09Save configuration and quit20 Configure.app . 7.09Reboot computer. The driver is distributed as file named UltraStorFamily_1.1.tar.Z. . 1.09The driver20 UltraStorFamily.config must be on a floppy in directory20 /usr/Devices/ 2. 09boot from installation floppy with CD-ROM inserted in the CD-R OM drive 3.09At boot:, type:20 mach_kernel "Boot Drivers"3D"PS2Keyboard IDE" 09 (IDE is only necessary when using an IDE harddisk) 4.09select your language 5.09When you are prompted:20 09 The following SCSI adapter.....If you have a different kind...insert the fl oppy disk.. . etc. 09insert the floppy with the UltraStor driver, type:20 1 [RETURN]20 and select the driver from the list 6.09Proceed as normal 7.09When the computer reboots for the first time, insert the installation disk again 8.09At "boot" prompt, type :20 mach_kernel -s "Boot Drivers"3D"PS2Keyboard IDE" to start the computer in single user mode 9.09Repeat step 3 (afterwards, let the driver floppy remain in the drive) 10.09When reaching the single user shell (prompt #), type: 09# driverLoader D3DFloppy 09# mount -n /dev/hd0a20 (or20 /dev/sd0a20 for SCSI) /disk 09# mount -n /dev/fd0a /floppy 09# cp -r /floppy/usr/Devices/UltraStorFamily.config /disk/usr/Devices 09# reboot 11.09When the screen blanks out, remove the driver floppy for rebooting fr om harddisk 12.09When, while rebooting, the system reaches the "boot" prompt, type:20 09 mach_kernel "Boot Drivers"3D"PS2Keyboard IDE UltraStorFamily" 13. Continue the installation as normal 14.09When the Configure.app is launched, choose the UltraStorUltraStor dri ver as SCSI driver Release 1.1 notes: 1.09The driver works correctly with Toshiba XM-3401 CD-ROM and CDPlayer.app. The only thing you need is a program call ed XAmode, which switch TOSHIBA to XAmode. This also enables you to read Ko dakPhotoCD. XAmode is available from anonymous ftp ftp.uni-stuttgart.de:/pu b/systems/next/Tools .
